Hermsen finished as the runner-up at 165 pounds at the 2016 “Pete Willson” Wheaton Invitational on Friday and Saturday to help the Pointers finish fifth of 32 teams. The junior pinned his way to the championship match with four consecutive pins before falling in a 6-3 decision to Division-II All-American Nick Fishback of UW-Parkside. Three of Hermsen’s four pins came in less than two minutes, including pins against two seeded wrestlers.
