Hermsen finished as the runner-up in the 32-man bracket at 165 pounds at the Concordia (Wis.) Open on Saturday. The junior started the day with four-straight wins, including three pins and a decision over national qualifier Tom Gerszewski of UW-Whitewater, before falling 5-2 in the finals to Nick Michael of Wartburg. The strong showing improved Hermsen to 9-2 on the young season.
