Vernon rushed for a career-high 98 yards and a touchdown in UW-Stevens Point’s 34-31 win over Coe on Saturday in the team’s home opener. Before Saturday, the junior had never had more than seven rushes in a game but he averaged 5.2 yards per game on 19 carries. Vernon opened the scoring with a two-yard scoring plunge at 9:42 of the first quarter for the first touchdown of his UWSP career.
