LEXINGTON, Ky. – UW-Stevens Point sophomore April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Midwest Region honorable mention squad, the organization announced on Thursday (Nov. 9).  It is Gehl's second honor of the month after earning All-WIAC honors a week ago.

Gehl continues to rake in honors following an outstanding season for the Pointers.   She led UWSP and all conference players in kills this season with 495 on the year and averaged a league-best 4.02 kills per set.  She ended the season with double-doubles in 14 of the final 18 matches.  An all-around player, Gehl racked up 279 digs, 71 blocks, 22 assists and 17 services aces on the year.
 
Gehl was named WIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 3 and was named to the all-tournament team at three different events this season (Kathryn Pals Legacy Invitational, Sandy Schumacher Memorial and UW-Oshkosh Tournament).
