LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (24-9, 4-3) took a set from league-champion UW-La Crosse (19-6, 7-0), but fell in four sets, 3-1, in the final regular season match.
Sophomore
April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) recorded a double-double for the Pointers. She had 11 kills and added 16 digs while serving up an ace and contributing three blocks.
Sophomore
Abby Majercik (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) led UWSP with 30 assists. She also had a double-double with 12 digs in the match.
Senior
Kendra Kundinger (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) compiled 18 digs, ending the regular season with double-digit sigs in all but one match this season.
The Pointers out-hit the Eagles in the opening set, .267 to .182, but dropped the first set to UWL. In the second set, UWL hit .480 to take a 2-0 lead.
UWSP took the third set behind 10 kills and four service aces. The host-Eagles won the fourth set and the match with a 16-kill effort.
The Pointers are the fourth seed in the WIAC Tournament and will host UW-Oshkosh in the first round on Tuesday (Oct. 31) at 7:00 p.m. at Berg Gym.
