Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter on Tuesday evening to help the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team to a 55-44 victory over UW-Stout in the opening round of the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship, presented by Culver's.

M. Roland and
Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) aided in a 19-4 run to turn a two-point deficit (38-36) into a 13-point lead (55-42) with just under a minute remaining.
A back-and-forth battle for much of the game's first half, UWSP built leads of eight points in the first quarter and six in the second, only to see Stout erase the lead each time, eventually tying the game at 36-36 on a buzzer-beater to end the first half.
In the third, neither team held a lead larger than two.
The Pointers out-scored the Blue Devils 19-8 in the final period and shot 10-of-16 from the charity stripe in the second half compared to just 3-of-4 for the Blue Devils.
Miceli led all scorers with 16 points on a 6-of-9 performance from the floor while M. Roland added 14.
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, WI/Monroe) and Miceli each collected nine rebounds while
Taylor Douglas (Brodhead, WI/Brodhead) added eight.
Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) had a team-best four steals and four assists to go with her eight points.
Shannan Watkins led a pair of Blue Devils scoring in double figures with a team-high 12 points while Jenna Goldsmith added 11.
The third-seeded Pointers now head to second-seeded and 15th-ranked UW-Oshkosh for a semifinal showdown with the Titans. Action is set for a 7 p.m. start at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh on Thursday, Feb. 25.
