Volleyball rebounds with 3-1 win over Superior

STEVENS POINT – Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) and Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) led the way with 22 and 15 kills respectively as the UW-Stevens Point volleyball team rebounded from Friday night's loss with a 3-1 victory against UW-Superior on Saturday afternoon.

The Pointers won 25-17, 19-25, 30-28 and 25-17 to improve their record to 9-6 overall, 2-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.

With the score 1-1 entering the third set, it was UW-Stevens Point who came through in a key game.

After trailing 11-6, the Pointers rallied back to tie the game at 22-22 before they eventually pulling ahead and winning the set 30-28.

UW-Stevens Point then cruised to fourth set victory 25-17 to defeat the Yellowjackets.

Alexis Hartman (Deer Park, IL/Lake Zurich) led the way with 44 assists while Ally Groth (Germantown, WI/Germantown) tallied 20 digs. Bartkowiak converted on 46.2 percent (15-26) of her attacks while Brinkman was successful on 30.6 percent (22-49).

Point was successful on 22.2 percent of their kills while UW-Superior hit just .096 for the match.

Nikki Gosson led the Yellowjackets with 11 kills and Keely Deadrick had 27 assists and 15 digs.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Wednesday, September 28th with another WIAC matchup when they take on UW-Oshkosh. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Berg Gym.
