STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team pushed their record to 4-0 on Friday evening with a pair of victories over Ripon College 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18) and Coe College (25-22, 25-14, 25-27, 25-6). The 4-0 start is the best since a 6-0 kickoff to the season in 2004.
Morgan Bartkowiak led the way for the Pointers in the victory, tallying nine kills in 17 attempts while
Kaitlin Wolfe added eight kills on 19 attempts.
Chantel York kicked in 18 kills while
Molly Elderbrook chipped in 15 digs.
In game two, the Pointers took on Coe College and after going in front two games to none, dropped their third set 27-25 to force a fourth game. In that fourth game it was again all Pointers, as UWSP pulled away for the 25-6 victory.
Again Bartkowiak again led the way, this time with 14 kills on 26 swings with just one error.
Kati Rau was right behind with 13 kills on 27 attempts without an error. York added 33 assists against the Coehawks while
Lauren Krum tallied 18 digs and two block assists.
UW-Stevens Point will try and improve on their hot start with games Saturday against Central College and a nonconference tilt against UW-Superior. First match is schedule for a 9 a.m. start.
