APPLETON – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a pair of 3-0 victories at the Lawrence University Triangular. The Pointers defeated Lake Forest College in the opener 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 and then went on to defeat the host Vikings 25-15, 25-14, 25-16.
Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) led the way for the Pointers with 16 kills on the day while Kati Rau (Dorchester, WI/Colby) added 11. Cassidy Kohlhagen (Racine, WI/Union Grove) led the way with 61 assists in the two games, while Molly Elderbrook (Burlington/Burlington) chipped in a team-high 19 digs. Bartkowiak added 14 total blocks including eight assisted, a 2.33 block per game average.
As a team, the Pointers hit .215 on the afternoon.
UW-Stevens Point, who secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament, will next travel to fourth-seeded UW-Whitewater for the team's opening round match-up. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
