The nation's top-ranked team, UW-Oshkosh, secured the No. 1 seed and UW-Whitewater, ranked eighth, secured the No. 2 seed. Both teams receive a first round bye. The other quarterfinal match of the tournament will feature UW-River Falls at UW-Eau Claire in the #5 vs. #4 match-up.

The appearance in the tournament is the first for the Pointers since 2007 when the team secured the No. 5 seed, drawing No. 4 UW-La Crosse in the tournament's opening round. The Pointers dropped that game 3-0 (30-21, 30-18, 34-32).

In search of their first WIAC quarterfinal win since 1995, the Pointers will again travel to Williams Fieldhouse in Platteville to face the Pioneers after posting a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Pioneers during the two team's regular-season match-up.

The Pointers (11-15, 3-5 WIAC) have already completed conference play and will finish the regular season with non-conference matches the last two weeks of October before heading to Platteville.
