Blugold defeat Pointers 3-0

STEVENS POINT - Senior Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn.) tallied five kills and three digs in the final home match of her career on Saturday afternoon, but it was not enough as the Pointers fell to UW-Eau Claire 3-0 on Senior Day at Berg Gym. The Pointers lost by scores of 25-18, 25-10, and 25-22.

After battling to a 16-16 tie in game one, UW-Eau Claire pulled away to secure a 25-18 victory. Eau Claire stayed on a roll in game two, as they jumped in front 10-3 and never looked back, cruising to the 25-10 victory. In the third set, The Pointers stayed close, pushing the Blugold to a 19-19 tie before Cassie Hunt rattled off four straight points to pull and front and go on to the 25-22 victory

Nora had five kills and three digs while Michaela Rheineck (St. Paul, MN) led UW-Stevens Point with eight kills hitting .400. Lizzy Taylor (Eau Claire) had a team-high 14 digs for the Pointers and Chantel York (Lake Geneva) added 11 assists on the afternoon.

The Blugold were led by Emily Zupon who had 12 kills and Blair Murphy who contributed with 12 digs.

The Pointers return to action on Friday and Saturday, October 23-24 when they travel to the UW- Eau Claire Tournament.
