MADISON, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point women's basketball seniors
Mickey Roland (New London, Wis./New London) and
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) were among the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams announced by the league on Tuesday (Feb. 27). Roland earned First Team and All-Defensive Team honors with Barrett earning honorable mention team laurels. Junior
Caitlin Broberg (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
WIAC Release
Roland nabs her first career league honors after a superb senior season. She led the WIAC with 213 total rebounds and a league-high average of 8.2 per game. She also dished out a team-high 73 assists, third in the conference at 2.81 per game. On Jan. 6, Roland grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds in the win over UW-Stout and led UWSP in rebounds in nine of the 14 league games.
Barrett earns honorable mention accolades for the second-consecutive season. She led UWSP in scoring at 11.2 points per game this season. She blocked a team high 30 shots on the year, fourth-most in the league. She also made 84 free throws on the season, third-most in the WIAC. Barrett scored a career-high 22 points in the win over UW-Stout on Jan. 6 and recorded her first career double-double at North Central on Dec. 11.
Broberg has been an excellent role player for the Pointers in her third season with the team. She played in 14 games this season and made her first career three-pointer in UWSP's win at UW-Platteville on Jan. 20.
UWSP completed its season at 14-12 with an 8-6 record in WIAC play, ending the regular season on a five-game winning streak.
