LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-4-0, 0-1-0) conceded two first-half goals and dropped the conference-opener at UW-La Crosse (7-1-2, 1-0-0) on Saturday.
The Eagles took the early lead in the seventh minute of play on an unassisted goal. UWL doubled its lead in the 38th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
UWL added a third goal in the 51st minute to complete the scoring in the match.
UWSP had eight shots in the match, all in the first half.
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) and
Nora Hargett (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) each had a shot on goal in the first half, the only two times the UWL keeper was tested.
Senior goalkeeper
Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) made seven saves in the match.
The Pointers return home to face Augustana at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 4) in non-conference action.
