Former Pointer Ryan Ramczyk Drafted by New Orleans

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Former UW-Stevens Point football standout and Stevens Point native Ryan Ramczyk was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday (April 27).  Ramczyk joins the Saints as the 32nd overall pick, the highest drafted football player ever to play at UWSP.

Ramczyk played two seasons at UW-Stevens Point playing in all 10 games in 2013 and 2014.  As a freshman, he earned second-team All-WIAC honors.  In 2014, Ramczyk was an All-WIAC first team selection and a D3football.com All-West Region third team honoree.

In his first season at UWSP, Ramczyk helped the Pointers' offense to the second-best passing offense in the conference at 248.1 yards per game.  He also aided the UWSP offensive line to allow the second-fewest sacks in the league in 2013.

Ramczyk becomes the sixth player in school history to be drafted by an NFL team and the first since Clint Kriewaldt in 1999.  Ramczyk joins Pete Lucas (1991 to the Atlanta Falcons) as the second offensive lineman to be drafted.
