BROWN DEER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team widened its first-place lead on day two of the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) on Friday. The UWSP men have 611.5 points after day two, a lead of 130 points over second. The women's team, with 199 points, remain in fourth after day two.

The Pointers set another WIAC meet record on day two as
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./),
Jacob Aegerter (Cross Plains, Wis./),
Garrett Richetto (Wausau, Wis./East), and
Nate Somers (Oshkosh, Wis./West) outswam the WIAC meet record by three seconds with a time of 6:46.77 in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The team of
Sam Jekel (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West),
Jack Englehardt (Madison, Wis./West),
Brandon Richardson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Michael Academy) and
Reilly Donnellan (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) took home the title in the 200-yard medley relay with a winning time of 1:30.49.
Jekel picked a pair of wins up in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. Jekel finished with times of 48.79 and 49.80, respectively. Teammate
Grant Moser (St. Michael, Minn./) followed in second in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 49.72.
Richetto also picked up a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.77. Teammate Aegerter finished in second-place, finishing with a time of 1:42.05.
In the one-meter diving event,
Owen Gluck (West Bend, Wis./East) split the title of WIAC Champion with a score of 480.70, a co-championship score shared with UW-Eau Claire's Dylan Glumac.
Senior
Justin Fernandez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) finished the 400-yard IM in second-place with a time of 4:06.95.
On the women's side, the team of Missy Angove,
Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, Wis./),
Erica Perkins (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century High School) and
Margaret Hoover (Pleasant Prairie, WI/) finished fifth in the 200-yard IM. The women finished with a time of 1:52.63, improving upon their preliminaries time by seven seconds.
Perkins picked up a six-place finish in the 400-yard IM. She finished with a time of 4:46.80. Teammate
Bree Parent (Mt. Horeb, Wis./) followed Perkins with a time of 4:50.15, a time good for seventh-place.
The final day of the WIAC Championships hit the water on Saturday with preliminaries beginning at 10:30. The finals are set for 6:30 p.m. at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
