Karty's Goal Lifts Men's Hockey to 3-2 Victory

SUPERIOR, Wis. - Sophomore forward Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK) scored with less than a minute remaining in regulation to lead the fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over UW-Superior Tuesday evening at Wessman Ice Arena.

With just 56 seconds remaining, Karty found the back of the net off assists by Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, NJ) and Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, MI) to give UW-Stevens Point (14-3-3) a late lead over UW-Superior (6-12-1).

The Pointers were able to hold off the Yellowjackets while playing with an extra skater for the final 11 seconds.

Freshman forward Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, NJ) got UWSP on the scoreboard tallying his second goal of the season midway through the opening period.

At the 15:58 mark of the first period, Jordan Neduzak scored a power-play goal for UW-Superior to even the game at one heading into the first intermission.

With under six minutes remaining in the middle frame, Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) set up fellow senior Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, MO) to give UWSP a 2-1 lead, that was erased just nine seconds later by Viktor Sallhag, who tied the game at two entering the final period.

UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Superior, 33-25. Junior goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) recorded 23 saves for the Pointers while Kyle Miller made 30 saves for the Yellowjackets.

The Pointers will return to action on Feb. 3 and 4 taking on UW-Stout and UW-Supeior. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. for both contests at K.B. Willett Arena.
