Two Candidates Added to Finalist List for Director of Athletics Position

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has invited two additional finalists to be interviewed for the Director of Athletics position, according to the search and screen committee. Interviewing will be Mike Waddell, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations at the University of Illinois and Brad Duckworth, Director of Athletics at Alverno College.

Mike Waddell – Monday, May 9 from 4-5 p.m. in the Health Enhancement Center, Room 146.
Brad Duckworth – Monday, May 16 from 4-5 p.m. in the Health Enhancement Center, Room 146.

At the University of Illinois, Waddell functions as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations/Strategic Communication, and has held that position since 2014. At Illinois, Waddell has direct supervision over two sports, six coaches, eight units, 43 full-time staff, revenue generation of $25,000,000 annually, and budget responsibility of $10,000,000 annually.
 
Prior to Illinois, he served in the same position at the University of Arkansas, before functioning as the Director of Athletics at Towson University from 2010-2013. Overall, Waddell has over 27 years of experience at the collegiate level with time also spent at the University of Cincinnati, the University of Akron, Appalachian State University, the University of Virginia, and the University of North Carolina.

Duckworth is currently the Director of Athletics at Alverno College since 2007. In addition to his duties as Director of Athletics, Duckworth is also the head women's basketball coach and head women's golf coach. He also serves on several committees and is the Chair for NCAA National Women's Basketball Rules committee, NCAA Division III Women's Golf Central Region, WBCA Playing Rules Committee, in addition to several Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) committees in which he Chair's.
 
Prior to Alverno, Duckworth spent a year at UW-La Crosse as the assistant women's basketball coach, before spending time at State University of New York at Platz from 2002-2006. In New York, Duckworth was the head women's basketball coach, head softball coach, and academic coordinator for the athletic department.
