Finalists Named for Director of Athletics Position

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has named its three finalists to be interviewed for the Director of Athletics position, according to the search and screen committee. The candidates are Steve Schofield, Deputy Director of Athletics for External Operations at the University of Northern Iowa;  Chad Markuson, Deputy Director of Athletics at Minnesota State University Moorhead; and Nick Davidson, Director of Athletics at Keiser University.

Steve Schofield – Monday, April 25 from 4-5 p.m. in the Health Enhancement Center, Room 119.
Chad Markuson – Tuesday, April 26 from 4-5 p.m. in the Health Enhancement Center, Room 119.

At the University of Northern Iowa, Schofield functions as the Deputy Director of Athletics for External Operations, and has 13 years of experience at the collegiate level. At UNI, Schofield has been active in many roles at the University beginning as an Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, transitioning to Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services, then serving as Associate Director Athletics for Internal Operations and now External Operations.

Prior to UNI, Schofield served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance at three different Universities, Florida State, the University of Maryland, and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Markuson, a Wisconsin Rapids (Wis.) native, has 12 years of collegiate experience and has been with Minnesota State University Moorhead the past five years serving as the Associate Athletic Director, and more recently Deputy Director of Athletics. He oversees a $5 million dollar operating budget, serves on the President's Cabinet, University Budget and Planning Committee, and University Facility, Grounds and Safety Committee. He was also responsible for the University's largest one day fundraiser events call "Laps for Long Run" resulting in $1.2 million dollars.

He joined Dragon athletics after serving seven years with Upper Iowa University as an Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Affairs, in addition to being the head men's and women's golf coach.

Davidson has 14 years of experience in collegiate athletics and has served as the Director of Athletics at Keiser University (formally Northwood University) the last four years, playing a key role in the transition of Northwood University to Keiser University.

Prior to his time at Keiser, Davidson functioned as Assistant Director of the Student Center ('08-'11), then appointed as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations ('11-'12) at Davenport University, directing the strategic planning and opening of a $12 million/85,000 square-foot field house and student center.
