STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team saw its comeback attempt fall short in a 22-19 loss to UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual on Thursday night.

Junior Joey Seitz (Campbellsport, WI/Kewaskum) got the Pointers on the board with a 10-8 sudden victory in the 149 weight class.  Fellow junior Jaden Boivin (Marinette, WI/Marinette) kept the momentum on UWSP's side with a 5-2 decision at 157.

Senior Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) shut out his opponent for a 9-0 major decision, his 12th win of the year.

In the 197 weight class, junior Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/West Allis) pinned his opponent at the 4:03 mark of the match to pull UWSP within six points in the dual.

Sophomore Donny Ralston (Ladysmith, WI/Bruce) faced ninth-ranked D'Andre Johnson in the heavyweight class.  Ralston picked up a 3-2 decision for UWSP, but the comeback fell short.

The Pointers head to Iowa and Illinois to kick off 2017 with a pair of non-conference events.  UWSP returns home to face UW-Eau Claire in WIAC action on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m.
