STEVENS POINT, Wis. – In a three-way tie for first place and winners of 11 of its last 12 games, the No. 14 UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team plays travels to UW-Stout on Wednesday before hosting No. 11 UW-Oshkosh in a top-15 matchup on Saturday.

WednesdayLAST TIME OUTUW-Stevens Point picked up a 55-48 road win over UW-La Crosse on Saturday behind a career-high 19 points from
Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London). The sophomore was 5-for-8 from the field and 7-for-9 from behind the arc and also recorded seven rebounds and five steals. The Pointers led by just three with 1:17 remaining but Roland made six of the team's eight consecutive free throws down the stretch.
The win capped a 2-0 week for UW-Stevens Point after the Pointers picked up their fifth win over a ranked team with a 63-52 home win over No. 18 UW-River Falls on Wednesday evening. The Pointers trailed by one going to the fourth quarter but outscored the Falcons 21-9 in the fourth to deal the visitors their first WIAC loss of the season. The UWSP bench outscored UWRF's 37-9 in the game.
PACK IT PURPLESaturday's game against UW-Oshkosh is UW-Stevens Point's "Pack It Purple" game. The first 250 fans at Berg Gym will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Mada Custom Apparel and FASTSIGNS. At halftime, there will be a "Five Minutes to Win It" half-court shootout. The first fan to make a half-court shot will receive $500 courtesy of Mada. Fans must get in line and get a ticket in order to participate. The earlier you get there, the earlier you will shoot in the line, so get to Berg early!
FOOD DRIVEThe Pointers are also having their food drive for The Cupboard, UW-Stevens Point's on-campus food pantry, on Saturday. Fans who bring three non-perishable food items will receive free admission to the game!
ABOUT UW-STEVENS POINT | HOME | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATSUW-Stevens Point's two wins last week gave the Pointers 11 wins in their last 12 games since a 51-48 loss to then-No. 18 St. Thomas on Nov. 29. The only loss during that span for the Pointers is a 60-46 setback at then-No. 20 UW-Oshkosh on Jan. 16. UW-Stevens Point has won five of its first six conference games for the first time since 2012-13.
STREAK STATSDuring its 11-1 run beginning in December, UW-Stevens Point has outscored its opponents by nearly nine points a game (+8.8). The Pointers have held their opponents to an average of 53.8 points a game and have scored 62.5 themselves. UW-Stevens Point is also outrebounding its opponents by eight boards a game (37.7 to 29.7) over the span.

BENCH PRODUCTIONUW-Stevens Point's bench has outscored the opposing team's bench in all six WIAC games this season and have done so by an average of 22.7-12.2 per game. The UWSP reserves have been particularly effective in the last two games, outscoring the benches of UW-River Falls and UW-La Crosse 65-15. UW-Stevens Point has had four double-digit scorers off the bench in the last two games, led by 30 points from Roland.
Taylor Douglas (Brodhead, WI/Brodhead) and
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, WI/Monroe) also had double figure games against the Eagles.
ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER RANKED OPPONENTFor the fifth consecutive week, UW-Stevens Point will face a ranked team when it hosts No. 11 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon. The Pointers are 5-2 against top-25 teams this season, including two wins over top-10 opposition (No. 8 WashU on Nov. 20 and No. 6 UW-Whitewater on Jan. 9).
TIGHT TOP THE WIACUW-Stevens Point is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the WIAC with UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls with 5-1 records. The three teams are two games ahead of UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire. The Pointers, Falcons, Titans and Warhawks all have identical 14-3 records this season.

ABOUT UW-STOUT | HOME | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATSUW-Stout is currently sixth in the WIAC with a 2-4 conference record and is 8-9 overall. The Blue Devils saw a two-game winning streak snapped at the hands of UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, losing 65-50 in Menomonie. Prior to the loss, UW-Stout had posted road wins over UW-Platteville and UW-La Crosse.
The Blue Devils are just 1-6 on their home court this season, compared to a combined 7-3 in road and neutral-court games. UW-Stout has lost its last four home games as its lone home victory was an 86-63 win over Hamline on Nov. 24.
UW-Stout boasts the WIAC's top-scoring offense, averaging 73.5 points per game, but ranks seventh defensively by allowing 69.8 points per game. The Blue Devils' high-flying offense will come up against the Pointers' second-rated scoring defense, which allows only 54.1 points a game. The Blue Devils lead the WIAC in assists (15.2 per game) and steals (10.5 per game) and are third in turnover margin (+2.4 per game).
Junior Jenna Goldsmith paces UW-Stout in scoring at 13.0 points a game, which ranks sixth in the conference, is fourth in the WIAC in rebounding (7.6 per game) and second in blocks (2.6 per game). Senior Kyleigh Hebert (11.2 ppg) and junior Sarah Schoch (10.0 ppg) also average in double figures. Hebert averages a WIAC-best 4.6 assists per game and ranks second in the conference in steals (2.7 per game).
ABOUT UW-OSHKOSH | HOME | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATSUW-Oshkosh brings a five-game winning streak into the week, winning each of its last five by double figures since losing its WIAC opener to UW-River Falls. The Titans started the season with nine straight wins before losing three in a row to Wartburg, St. Thomas and UW-River Falls. St. Thomas (No. 12) and UW-River Falls (No. 18) are both currently top-25 teams and Wartburg was ranked as high as No. 13 earlier in the season.
The Titans entered the season ranked No. 6 by D3hoops.com and have been ranked as high as No. 5 and as low as No. 20. UW-Oshkosh ranks among the nation's best in several categories: three-point shooting (fifth, 38.0 percent), scoring defense (15th, 50.2 ppg), scoring margin (15th, +17.9), assist-to-turnover ratio (19th, 1.14), field-goal percentage (23rd, 43.6 percent).
Junior Taylor Schmidt is the only UW-Oshkosh player to average in double figures (10.6 ppg) but nine Titans average at least 4.2 points per game. Sophomore Eliza Campbell averages 9.3 points and 5.2 rebounds, while junior Alex Richard contributes 8.9 points and 6.2 boards a game. Schmidt leads the conference in three-point field-goal percentage (.468).
THE COACHESShirley Egner is in her 27th season as the head coach at UW-Stevens Point and is the all-time winningest coach in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) history with a 502-215 (.700) career record, making her the 17th Division III women's basketball coach with 500 career victories. Over the last 14 seasons, Egner has guided the Pointers to a 319-87 record, the best mark of any WIAC team over that span. She is a four-time WIAC Coach of the Year honoree, a three-time Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Women's Coach of the Year (2010-12) was inducted into the WBCA Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2001-02, Egner led the Pointers to the national title and a 30-3 record to become just the eighth team in Division III history to win 30 games in a season.
Mark Thomas is the dean of WIAC women's basketball coaches as this season is his 29th at UW-Stout. He ranks second to Egner in conference history in wins with a 456-303 (.601) career record. Over the past 20 seasons, Thomas has helped the Blue Devils finish in the WIAC's top four 16 times. He is a six-time WIAC Coach of the Year and a two-time Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Coach of the Year.
This season is Brad Fischer's fourth as the UW-Oshkosh head coach and he has amassed an 83-20 (.806) record at UW-Oshkosh. He guided the Titans to NCAA Tournament appearances in each of the last two seasons and earned 2014 Central Region Coach of the Year honors from D3hoops.com. Prior to Fischer's arrival, UW-Oshkosh had no winning seasons and a 52-99 record from 2007-12. Fischer spent five seasons (2006-11) as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division II UW-Parkside and was an assistant at UW-La Crosse from 2003-06.
SERIES NOTESUW-Stevens Point holds a 42-29 lead in the all-time series against UW-Stout and has won 10 of the last 11 meetings since 2010. The Pointers have won seven of the last eight matchups in Menomonie. Last season, UW-Stevens Point was victorious 64-51 at home and 68-64 on the road.
UW-Oshkosh leads the series with UW-Stevens Point 53-48 after a 60-46 UWO victory on Jan. 16 in Oshkosh. The Titans have won five of the last seven head-to-head matchups since 2013 after the Pointers won 16 straight from 2006-2013. UWSP has won 10 of the last 11 contests in Stevens Point.
