Six Pointers receive Midwest All-Region honors

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Six members of the UW-Stevens Point baseball team were named to NCAA Division III Midwest All-Region teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

The Pointers finished 2-2 in the program's fifth NCAA Division III World Series appearance and set a program record with 41 wins.

Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton), Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West), Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy), Jacob Herbst (Park Falls, WI/Park Falls) and JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls) were all named to the Midwest First Team, and Jimmy Coady (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas) was named to the Third Team.

Gerber, a senior first baseman, led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with 12 home runs and 61 RBIs.

Schilter, a senior catcher, led the WIAC in steals for the second consecutive season with 22. Schilter's nine home runs rank third in the WIAC. Behind the plate, Schilter was a perfect 8-for-8 in throwing out base runners in the World Series.

Douglas, a senior shortstop, became the Pointers' all-time leader in hits when he singled in his second at-bat of the 4-3 win over Kean University in the second game of the World Series. Douglas finished 7-for-15 (.467) during World Series play and his 249 career hits surpasses the previous mark of 243.

Herbst, a senior pitcher, led the Pointers in innings pitched (82), strikeouts (72) and finished the season with a 3.07 ERA. He also led the WIAC with nine wins.

Feyereisen, a sophomore pitcher, is the 2013 WIAC Pitcher of the Year. Feyereisen recorded seven wins while posting a 2.69 ERA.

Coady, a sophomore outfielder, led the Pointers with a .390 batting average and finished second on the team with 51 RBIs. He collected at least one RBI (five in all) in each World Series game.
