STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team announced its 2012-13 team awards at the team banquet over the weekend.
Sophomore goalie
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Jaeger finished third in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) in goals against average at 2.69. Jaeger also placed third in win-percentage (.639) and finished with an overall record of 11-6-1.
Sophomore forward Joshua Daley was named the team's Most Improved Player. Daley played in 19 games and finished fourth on the team with 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists).
Freshman defender
Alex Brooks (Grand Rapids, MI/) was named the team's Rookie of the Year. Brooks led all UWSP freshmen with 10 assists and 13 points.
Senior forward
Jerry Freismuth (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) and freshman forward
Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/) received the Purple Heart Award.
