STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team bounced back from consecutive losses by defeating UW-Oshkosh 62-52 Wednesday night.

The Pointers jumped out to a 12-0 run early in the first half when a layup by
Nate VanHandel (Appleton, WI/North) put UWSP ahead 18-5 less than seven minutes into the half.
The Titans battled back by hitting five 3-pointers in the period and cut the UWSP lead to just 28-25 with 5:13 remaining in the first half.
The Pointers went into halftime with a 34-29 lead.
UWSP regained a double-digit lead in the second half when
Trevor Hass (New London, WI/New London/Augustana (SD)) connected on a three-point play to put the Pointers ahead 46-36 with 12:25 remaining.
A pair of free throws by the Titans' Cory Nickel brought Oshkosh to within 53-50 with 2:28 left in the second half, but
Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) connected on a trio of free throws when he was fouled in the act of shooting from behind the arc.
Hass followed with a jumper to put UWSP on top 58-50 with 1:12 remaining.
Hass shot 4-for-4 from the line in the final seconds to put the Titans out of reach.
Clayton Heuer (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln/UW-Green Bay) led all scorers with 14 points for the Pointers and Hass followed with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Alex Richard (Spring Green, WI/River Valley) added nine points and nine rebounds in the winning effort and
Sean McGann (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) matched his career high with 10 points.
Dylan Wurtz and Nickel each scored 11 points for the Titans.
UWSP travels to Menomonie, Wis., Wednesday, Feb 13 when it tips off with UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
