KIMBERLY, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team recorded victories in seven of 10 weight classes on Thursday evening to open the season with a 29-15 victory over Lakeland College at Kimberly High School in the season opener for both teams.

David Granatelli (Appleton, WI/Appleton North) opened action with an 11-6 decision at 125-pounds and Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) and Jared Kust (Shawano, WI/Shawano) added major decision victories at 133 and 141, respectively, to give UWSP the 11-0 lead.

Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford) and Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) tallied pins and Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) and Luke Hoffmann (Appleton, WI/North) won by decision to give the Pointers the 29-15 victory.

The Pointers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 9, hosting the Pointer Open at Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) in Stevens Point. Action gets underway at 9 a.m.
