STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team overcame an early 5-0 deficit to roll to a 34-8 nonconference victory over the Falcons of Concordia University (Wis.) Wednesday evening in Berg Gym.

Defending national champion Greg Sanders won the evening's opening match for the visiting Falcons, but Concordia tallied just one more win in the dual (165 pounds) as the Pointers rattled off seven straight victories to secure the victory.

Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford)'s win at 157 put the Pointers on the board and a Bill Langford (Westosha, WI/Westosha Central) major decision at 174 evened the score at 8-8. A major decision by Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) put the Pointers in front for good and back-to-back decisions by Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) and Jordan Koranda (Marshfield, WI/Marshfield) made the score 18-8.

Trevor McManus (Adams, WI/Adams-Friendship), in his first collegiate wrestling match, pinned CUW's Brandon Mayhew in 1:13 to give UWSP the 24-8 lead and Jared Kust (Shawano, WI/Shawano) posted a 9-0 major decision at 141 to close out the evening.

The Pointers (2-0) head to Kenosha, Wis., on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. match-up with NCAA Division II UW-Parkside.
