WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team won two of its four matches at the Border Brawl Duals in Whitewater, Wis. Saturday.

Results

The Pointers opened with a 23-14 loss to Elmhurst College.

Both Shane Sweeney (Madison, WI/Edgewood) and Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) won by major decision at 149 pounds and 165 pounds, respectively. Jordan Koranda (Marshfield, WI/Marshfield) won the 285 pound match 9-6.

UWSP topped Trine University 27-17.

Sweeney, Schulte and Koranda each earned their second wins of the day.

Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano) won the 141 pound bout 9-4 while Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) won at 184 pounds, 2-1.

Dustin Woziniak came away with a win via pin at 197 pounds.

In round three the Pointers fell to Olivet, 24-15.

Kust, Schulte and Wozniak earned wins for the Pointers.

Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI/Neenah) also won with a pin at 2:27 in the 157 pound match.

In its final match of the day, UWSP easily handled Manchester University, 42-5.

Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) and Ryan Osse (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) won via major decision at 125 pounds and 141 pounds, respectively.

Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) won via pin at 165 pounds while Strobel earned his second pin of the day.

Wozniak and Koranda also came away with wins via pin.

The Pointers next host UW-Whitewater Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
