ORLANDO, Fla. – Members of two UW-Stevens Point men's track & field relay teams were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the best collegiate relay teams of 2012.

The awards, presented by Accusplit, the leader in the professional stopwatch and timing industry since 1972, were presented at the USTFCCCA Convention in Florida December 17-20.

UWSP's 4x800-meter relay team of Scott Berry (Rudolph, WI/Lincoln), Alex Steiner (Chilton, WI/Chilton), Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt), and Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) were acknowledged. The quartet posted a national-best time of 7:33.51 in the event last spring.

Also for the Pointers, Berry, Babatunde Awosika (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee School of Arts), Steiner, and Sullivan were recognized as the nation's best distance medley relay team, posting a time of 9:58.80 last season.

The Pointers open the indoor portion of the 2013 season on Jan. 19 in Eau Claire.
