STEVENS POINT, Wis. – In addition to 6-8 Division I transfer Clayton Heuer, UW-Stevens Point head men's basketball coach Bob Semling announced seven other recruits who intend to play for the Pointers in 2012-13.

Heuer, who redshirted his freshman year with UW-Green Bay, played in 39 games, averaging 1.5 points per game. He was a two-time News Channel 7 All-Star when he played for Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School in 2008-09. He was also the 2009 Wisconsin Valley Conference Player of the Year and a two-time AP All-State selection. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Also intending to continue action with the Pointers in 2012-13 are freshmen Robert DeMyers, Sean McGann, Curtis Parker, Bill Patterson, Dan Studer and Ross Thorn and sophomore transfer Conor Miklasz.

DeMyers, a 6-5 forward from Aurora Central Catholic High School in Illinois, was a member of a two-time regional championship team. He averaged 13.4 points, nine rebounds and five blocks per game during his senior season on his way to being named Suburban Christian League All-Conference team and a Chicago Tribune All-Area team. DeMyers was also a member of the Joliet West All-Tournament team and was named team MVP as a senior.

McGann, a 6-4 swing from Baraboo High School, averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game during his senior season. He was a three-time all-conference selection capped by a unanimous First Team Badger North All-Conference selection as a senior. McGann was a WBCA Division 2 All-Star and a first team all-area selection. He was a three-sport athlete, earning all-conference honors in football and baseball as well.

Parker, a 5-11 guard, was a three-year varsity player at Joliet High School in Illinois. The two-time team captain was a Chicago Daily Herald All-Area selection and an All-SouthWest Suburban Conference as a senior. He averaged 13.5 points and four rebounds per game.

Patterson, a 6-8 forward from Mount Carmel High School in Illinois, helped lead his team to a 2011 Chicago Catholic League Championship. He was a Chicago Catholic League All-Star and All-Conference player as a senior and was named the league's co-defensive player of the year. Patterson averaged 12.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per contest during his senior campaign.

Studer, a 6-7 forward from Germantown High School, finished his career as a Division I state champion after helping lead Germantown to a perfect 28-0 record. The North Shore Conference champion averaged 8.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game during his team's run to the state title and along the way earned First Team North Shore All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Suburban Team accolades. He was also a WBCA Division 1 All-Star and was a finalist for the state Defensive Player of the Year and Post Player of the Year awards.

Thorn, a 6-8 forward from Three Lakes Highs School, helped lead his team to a Northern Lakes Conference title, averaging 18 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. A two-time all-conference performer, Thorn was named the 2012 Northern Lakes Conference Player of the Year along with First Team All-State and a WBCA Division 4 All-Star. In the classroom, Thorn was the school's valedictorian and earned a Wisconsin Academic Excellence scholarship.

Transfer Conor Miklasz, a 5-10 guard originally from John Hersey High School in Mount Prospect, Ill., transfers to UWSP from Harper College. In one season at Harper, he appeared in 27 games, averaging 9.5 points, 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals per contest. He was a second team all-region honoree. At John Hersey High School, Miklasz was named to the Mid-Suburban League All-Conference team as a senior and was a Chicago Daily Herald All-Area performer. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per contest as a senior.

UWSP made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011-12 and finished the season with a 20-8 overall record, the sixth consecutive season with 20 or more wins.

The Pointers look to replace Jordan Brezinski (Muskego, WI) and Dan Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph/Minnesota-Duluth), who were lost to graduation. The duo started all 28 games and accounted for nearly 29 of the team's 72 points per game and 12.5 of the team's 32.5 rebounds per contest.
