CLAREMONT, Calif. –Sophomore
Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) claimed the national championship in the 1500-meter run Saturday to cap off the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Claremont, Fla.
Last year's national runner-up, Sullivan came into the finals after clocking the second-fastest time in the preliminaries on Thursday, posting a time of 3:54.73. In the finals, the 2012 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) 800-meter and 1500-meter champion finished with a time of 3:55.38.
For the women,
Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) claimed All-American honors as the junior placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 14.29. Kline qualified for the finals after taking second in her heat in Friday's preliminaries and recording a time of 14.24, seeding her eighth for Saturday's finals.
In the 5000-meter run,
Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) placed third, earning All-American honors with a time of
17:05.91. Haen also claimed All-American status in the 10000-meter run on Thursday with a fifth place finish.
The Pointer women finished with 15 points while the men finished with 11.
