INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – UW-Stevens Point sophomore Mary Welch (Madison, WI/West) earned an at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Angola, Indiana May 8-11.

Welch was the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Golfer of the Year this season after winning individual medalist honors at the league's championship tournament.

Welch finished the season with six top-5 finishes, posting an 80.2 average, and was a four-time recipient of individual medalist honors. She had a season-best 72 at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational in September and fired a 73 in the opening round of the UW-Eau Claire Invite.

Conference foe UW-Eau Claire received the automatic bid into the field after winning the league title last fall.

Welch is one of six individuals and 19 teams that will participate in the 2012 event that will be conducted May 8-11 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind., with Trine serving as host.
