STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Three NCHA men's hockey games were played on Friday night, and after all precincts had closed, the Pointers clinched home ice for the conference quarterfinal rounds scheduled for next weekend.
Ironically, the purple and gold skaters were the lone NCHA team not in action on the evening, while the team rested in preparation for its final regular-season game, a home tilt on Saturday night vs. UW-Stout (7 p.m. faceoff).
The 2011-12 NCHA Peters Cup Playoffs get underway on Feb. 17, when the UWSP squad hosts back-to-back contests at Willett Arena against either the #5 or #6 seed. In addition to the Pointers' Senior Day match on Saturday, there will be two other NCHA games on the docket, each of which has playoff seeding implications.
Information on how to order tickets for the NCHA Quarterfinals will be available on Saturday (February 11) evening.
