Ritchay's late three-pointer gives Pointers 82-81 win

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Joe Ritchay (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) drilled a three pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining to give the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team an 82-81 win over St. Olaf College Saturday afternoon.

Box Score

The Pointers' sharpshooting from distance and St. Olaf's difficulties from the free-throw line allowed the Pointers to escape with the road victory. UWSP shot 50 percent (13-for-26) from behind the arc for the game.

St. Olaf shot just 35.7 percent (5-for-14) from the free-throw line and missed three free throws in the game's final 30 seconds.

St. Olaf grabbed a 44-43 lead one minute into the second half, and the Pointers didn't reclaim the lead until Ritchay's game-winning three pointer.

Trevor Hass (New London, WI/New London/Augustana (SD)) led all scorers with 25 points and shot 6-for-11 from the three-point line.

Austin Ryf (Winneconne, WI/Winneconne) scored 12 points for UWSP, all of which came from behind the arc (4-for-6). The game's hero, Ritchay, was a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point range, finishing with 11 points.

Sterling Nielsen led St. Olaf in scoring with 22 points.

UWSP plays it first home game of the season Tuesday, Nov. 20 when it hosts St. John's at 8 p.m.
