STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team opened the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening, rolling to a 40-6 victory over the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire.

The 15th-ranked Pointers benefited from four forfeit victories on the evening, as Jordan Koranda (Marshfield, WI/Marshfield), Ryan Osse (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge), Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI/Neenah) and Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) all earned a pass on the evening.

Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano) earned the first victory of the night for the Pointers that was not via the forfeit, collecting a 3-1 victory over Eau Claire's Nathaniel Behnke at 141-pounds.

Shane Sweeney (Madison, WI/Edgewood) also picked up a win at 149-pounds, a hard-fought 10-4 victory to give the Pointers an 18-3 lead.

Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) collected his sixth win of the season with a pin at 165-pounds, defeating Brandon Strandel in 4:31.

Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) concluded the evening for the Pointers with a 10-2 major decision at 197-pounds, securing the 40-6 victory for UWSP.

The Pointer (2-0, 1-0 WIAC) return to action at the Concordia (Wis.) Open this Saturday, Nov. 17. Action begins at 9 a.m. The Pointers will then host UW-Oshkosh on Nov. 27 for another home dual.
