Pointers hockey falls to seventh-ranked Adrian, 3-1

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team fell to seventh-ranked Adrian College 3-1 Friday night at K.B. Willett Arena.
 
The Bulldogs got on the board first, scoring 10 minutes into the game on a Zach Graham goal.
 
The Pointers responded midway through the second, as Kyle Heck (Plover, WI/SPASH) scored a power play goal on assists from Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) and Johnny Meo (Vernon Hills, IL/Ursuline).
 
The game remained knotted at one for most of the third until Adrian took advantage of another power play, scoring with just under five minutes remaining in regulation. Dan Barczuk was credited with the goal on an assist from Shawn Courtney.
 
With just 10 seconds left in the game, the Bulldogs added an empty-net goal to seal the 3-1 victory.
 
Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) recorded 24 saves in the loss while Adrian's Scott Shackell tallied 19 saves.
 
UWSP (5-7-2) and Adrian (9-3) return to the ice Saturday evening at Willett Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
