Pointers open with dominating win over Lakeland

PULASKI, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team opened the dual portion of their schedule on Tuesday evening with a dominating 40-8 victory over the Muskies of Lakeland College at Pulaski High School. 

Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI) opened the evening with a hard-fought 6-4 victory at 125 pounds and Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI) added a pin at 133 pounds to give UWSP the early lead.  After a Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI) victory at 141, Lakeland tallied one of their two victories of the night at 149 pounds. 

Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI) then added the second pin of the night for the Pointers at 157 pounds in 4:50. 

After a Lakeland victory at 165 pounds, the rest of the evening belonged to the Pointers, as Ryan Conat (New London, WI) and Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI) tallied victories by pin, Dan Diebitz (West Allis, WI) earned a victory by forfeit and Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI) recorded a major decision after moving up to heavyweight. 

The Pointers (1-0) return to action at the Muskie Invite, hosted by Lakeland College, on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Sheboygan.
