Pointers Suffer Weekend Sweep with 3-1 Loss at Eau Claire

Box Score

EAU CLAIRE – UW-Stevens Point's Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls) tallied her 14th goal of the season in the third period but it was not enough to hold off the weekend sweep of the Pointer women's hockey team as they fell 3-1 to the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire Saturday evening at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Blugolds struck first in the game's opening period as Emly Larson gave host UWEC the early edge. Eau Claire added another goal midway through the second period to take a 2-0 lead into the final period.

Tanzer scored her 14th of the season, unassisted at the 3:50 mark of the third period to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.

In the game's final minute, the Pointers pulled goalie Carly Gorecki (Woodbury, MN/Mahtomedi/Robert Morris) only to give up an empty net goal late as the Blugolds took the 3-1 victory.

Gorecki tallied 19 saves in goal for the Pointers, suffering the loss.

The Pointers (9-6-1, 5-6-1 NCHA) return to action on Friday, Jan. 28 when they host Marian University in an NCHA contest scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
