Pointers and Bulldogs Skate to 1-1 Tie

STEVENS POINT- The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against Adrian College Saturday evening at Ice Hawks Arena.

After a scoreless opening period, the Pointers got the scoring started on a goal from Ariel Novak (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) two minutes and 49 seconds into the second period. The Pointers had a four on three advantage when Novak scored off a pass from Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View).

Adrian then tied up the score with 1:52 left in the second period. Nina Laurie scored the goal for Adrian, as they had the power play advantage. 

The second period was the only period that saw any scoring and it also saw many penalties as the Pointers were penalized five times and Adrian was penalized six times in the period. Neither team was penalized in the third period or in overtime.

Pointer goalkeeper Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) was fantastic in the net for the Pointers as she finished with 36 saves. Adrian goalkeeper Emily Michelin finished the game with 23 saves.

The tie puts the Pointers overall record at 8-4-1 and 4-4-1 in the NCHA. The Pointers and Adrian will face off again tomorrow at Ice Hawks Arena. Puck will drop at 2:00 p.m.
