Six Earn All-WIAC Hockey Honors

MADISON – Six UW-Stevens Point men's hockey players have earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors for their efforts in leading the Pointer men's hockey team to the NCHA semifinal round and an overall record of 12-15-1.

Of the Pointers six selections, junior Garrett Suter (Madison/Oregon), sophomore Jon Madden (Brighton, MI/Howell) and freshman Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) all were named First Team All-WIAC.

Defenseman Garrett Suter (Madison/Oregon) earned his second first team and third overall selection to the All-WIAC men's hockey squad. While playing in 27 games this season Sutter lead the Pointers with 16 assists and six goals, tying the junior for the team lead with 22 points. The Madison native also was also named to the All-NCHA team, adding to his Honorable Mention All-NCHA honors from last season.

Forward Jon Madden (Brighton, MI/Howell) received WIAC honors for the second time in his career as he was named to the First Team All-WIAC. The sophomore played in 26 games while leading the Pointers with 13 goals while chipping in with seven assists. Madden was also named to the Honorable Mention All-NCHA team, his first.

In his first season with the Pointers Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) was named to the First Team All-WIAC squad helping the Pointers go 9-6-1 while between the posts. He posted a 2.69 save percentage and was the only Pointer this season to receive player of the week honors by the NCHA.

Sophomore Luke Nesper (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) and freshman Jonny Meo's play was also recognized as they were named to the Honorable Mention All-WIAC team. Nesper was tied for the team lead with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. In Meo's first season as a Pointer he finished the season with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists. This was Nesper's second time he has received Honorable Mention All-WAIC honors.
In senior Reed Lally (Duluth, MN/East)'s final season he was named to the All-Sportsmanship team. Lally played in 23 games and recorded two goals.

UW-Eau Claire's Matt Loen was named the league's coach of the year while Brian Bina of UW-Superior was named Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete.
