Kline Sets School Mark at Pointer Invite

Sara Kline set a new school record in the 55 meter hurdles on Saturday.

STEVENS POINT - The UW-Stevens Point women's track & field team posted two first place finishers at the 2010 Pointer Invite. Team scores were not available at the time of this release.

Top finishers on the day included Claire Roberts (Oakfield), who finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.59. Also posting a top finish on the day was Elizabeth Caine (Plover) posted the top college time in the women's 55 meter dash, finishing in a time of 7.28.

Sara and Erin Kline (Casco) finished 1-2 in the women's 55 meter hurdles. The tandem qualified 1-2 in the prelims and went on to take the top two spots in the finals heet, with Sarah posting a time of 8.42 while Erin posted a tie of 8.60. Sara's time was not only an NCAA Provisional qualifying time, but also set a new school record in the event.

Elsewhere, Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson) and Chelsea Czarnecki (Ashland) finished third and fifth respectively in the 400 meter dash, as Folbrecht's finished with a time of 59.22 and Czarnecki a time of 1:01.46. Allison Wolter (Kaukauna) and Kelly Haen (Kaukauna) also finished third and fifth in the 5,000 meter run, as Wolter posted a time of 18:17.70.

The women's 4x400 relay team finished second on the day, finishing in a time of 4:02.55.

In the field events, Bethany Utecht (Fredonia) finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.92 meters (45'8”). Katie Meyer (Lake Mills) finished seventh in the pentathlon, posting a person record 2,439. Briana Balza (Green Bay), who finished 11th in the pentathlon, won the shot put event with a toss of 10.20 meters (33'5.5”).

The Pointers return to action Feb. 13 when they travel to UW-Platteville for the Platteville Invitational. Action will begin at 10 a.m.
