STEVENS POINT- UW-Stevens Point bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominating 7-0 win over Finlandia University Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena.
Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield) led the Pointers with 3 points as she scored an unassisted goal and assisted on two others to boost Stevens Point record to 7-1 overall.
Sam Lorr (Chisago, MN/Chisago Lakes) opened the Pointer scoring with a goal late in the first period as Stevens Point only held a 1-0 goal lead over the Lions after a period of play. Lunneborg started her big day with a goal to start the second period then assisted on another as Erika Greenen (Naperville, IL/Central) gave the Pointers a 3-0 advantage.
Stevens Point would never look back as the scoring continued in the third period with a Keela Patterson (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) goal, again assisted by Lunneborg. Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) added two insurance goals in the period as the Pointers continued to control, one being a power play goal with under a minute to play.
Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) had an easy day after only having to save three Lions' shots on goal. She earned the shutout win and improved her record to 7-1.
UW-Stevens Point (7-1, 3-1 NCHA) takes the ice again tomorrow afternoon as they look to sweep the Lions. The puck is set to drop at 2:30 pm at Ice Hawks Arena.
