Yellowjackets Split Weekend Series with 1-0 Win

Box Score

SUPERIOR – Jodi Holldand's goal midway through the first period was all the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior needed on Saturday afternoon, as they shutout the Pointer women's hockey team 1—at Sinto S. Wessman Arena.

A night after the Pointers handed the eighth-ranked 'Jackets a 2-1 loss, Superior stung back. The Pointers still earned two valuable points for the stretch run in the race for the NCHA title, as the Pointers now sit five points behind first place Lake Forest for the league's top spot.

d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI) recorded 35 saves on the afternoon in net for the Pointers while her counterpart stopped all 18 Stevens Point shots on goal.

UW-Stevens Point (10-5-1, 5-2-1 NCHA) returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30, when UW-River Falls visits IceHawks Arena for a pair of conference games. Friday's puck drops at 7 p.m.
