SUPERIOR - The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team overcame a 1-0 first period deficit and picked up two valuable points on Friday evening, defeating the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior 2-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action at Wessman Arena.

Kelsea Martalock (Tomah), who transferred to Stevens Point at the semester break, scored her first goal of Pointer career at the 4:17 mark off a
Sarah Phillips (Kelowna, B.C.) pass, knotting the score at 1-1.
Phillips took her turn at scoring just one minute into the third period, giving the Pointers the 2-1 lead.
The rest of the way,
d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI) tallied 14 of her 39 saves to preserve the one goal lead, earning the Pointers the victory.
The Pointers (10-4-1, 5-2-1 NCHA) and Yellowjackets (8-4-2, 2-3-2 NCHA) return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Superior.
