The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's basketball team will be holding a silent auction in Berg Lobby to benefit Project Embrace of Stevens Point on Wednesday, January 20 before and during their game against conference rival UW-Eau Claire. The game is scheduled for a 7pm start in Berg Gym.
Both teams are 5-2 in conference with Wednesday's winner moving into a first place tie with idle River Falls at the midway point of the conference season. This is the first meeting between the two schools since last season's conference tournament final, a game won by the Pointers 46-42 to secure the conference's automatic bid in the NCAA tournament field.
One of the items up for auction is a Polito's Pizza prize pack which includes three Polito's T-shirts and Three Large 14'' two topping pizzas. Adventure 212 has donated a T-shirt, a water bottle along with a 30 minute massage and 30 minute facial package. Also, Hilltop Pub and Grill has donated two (2) twenty-five dollar gift certificates and Applebee's has donated thirty-five dollars in gift certificates to be auctioned off.
Project Embrace is a local charity that is helping people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer by giving them three pink blankets from people who currently have and who have had breast cancer to let them know they are not alone in the fight against the disease. Come out to support the Pointers and this great cause!
