Jessica Edward (Sherrard, IL) tallied two goals and added an assist to help the Pointers move into a second place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) on Saturday afternoon with an 8-0 victory at IceHawks Arena.
The Pointers, who recorded a 10-0 victory over the Sabres on Friday evening, picked up right where they left off, scoring three first period goals, including both Edward goals and two
Samantha Scheving (Warroad, MN) assists.
In the second period, two more Pointer goals went up on the scoreboard, as
Kristen Selbach (Madison) and
Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN) each added goal of their own to push the Pointer lead to 5-0.
In the third, the Pointers added three early goals, as Scheving added her fourth point of the day on her first goal while
Sarah Phillips (Kelowna, B.C.) and
Erika Greenen (Naperville, IL) got in on the action, pushing the final score to 8-0.
Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL) and
Ann Hulme (Shaker Heights, OH) combined for the eight save shutout while the Pointers held the 50-8 shots on goal edge.
The Pointers (9-4-1, 4-1-1 NCHA) have now collected nine points in NCHA play, one point behind league-leading Lake Forest. The Pointers return to action next weekend, Jan. 22-23 with a weekend series at UW-Superior.
