CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point wrestling team was unable to come away with a win this weekend at the highly competitive Cliff Keen NWCA Duals on Saturday afternoon. The Pointers posted a 0-2 record on the day, falling to Luther 22-19 and Johnson & Wales 28-6.
The Pointers also fell in an exhibition match on Saturday to the 14th-ranked Ephs of Williams College, 23-19.
The fifth-seeded Pointers dropped their first dual of the day to Luther College, falling just short of an opening round win, 22-19. The Pointers built an early lead with victories from
Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI/Gladstone) at 125 and
Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano) at 133, but three straight victories by the Norse gave Luther the lead.
Wins by
Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee),
Dennis Reckelberg (New Franken/Luxemburg-Casco) and
Brandon Jochem (Hustisford/Hustisford) were not enough to get the Pointers back in the lead, as Luther pulled away for the three point victory.
