STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team pushed their record to a perfect 4-0 on Tuesday evening with a 9-0 victory over the Eagles of Edgewood College in non-conference tennis action at SentryWorld.
The Pointers jumped out to the early 3-0 lead after doubles behind a 9-8 (9-7) tiebreak victory at No. 2 by
Emily Riordan (Appleton) and
Kaitlyn King (Plover). No. 1 and No. 3 doubles also earned victories for the Pointers, as
Rachel Benn (Stevens Point) and
Chelsea Allbaugh (Bettendorf, IA) earned an 8-3 decision while
Kaylei Sorensen (Plover) and
Leah Benn (Stevens Point) recorded an 8-6 decision.
In singles,
Rachel Benn (Stevens Point/SPASH) needed a tiebreak set to secure a victory at No. 1 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), while the rest of the Pointers secured straight set victories over the Eagles, securing the shutout victory.
The Pointers return to action on Friday, Sept. 11 when they face Cornell (Iowa) in Mount Vernon, Iowa at 4 p.m.
