BELOIT – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team recorded a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon, notching a 9-0 victory over Mount Mary College and a 5-4 decision over Beloit College.

The Pointers gave up just two points in doubles, as Rachel Benn (Stevens Point) and Chelsea Allbaugh (Bettendorf, IA) recorded an 8-0 victory at No. 1 and Kaylei Sorensen (Plover) and Leah Benn (Stevens Point) recorded an 8-0 victory at No. 3. Emily Riordan (Appleton) and Kaitlyn King (Plover) also picked up a victory at No. 2 doubles, an 8-2 decision.

In singles, all six Pointers won in straight sets, including Sorensen and Allison Fortier (Rhinelander) at No. 5 and No. 6, who both won 6-0, 6-0.

The day's second matchup against Beloit was more of a struggle, as the Pointers ended doubles behind 2-1, as Sorensen and Benn recorded the only victory for UWSP, an 8-3 decision over Julia Win and Ashley Miglin.

In singles, the middle of the Pointers' order recorded victories to give the Pointers the victory. Allbaugh won a third set tiebreaker in dramatic fashion at No. 2 singles 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2). Riordan tallied a victory at No. 3 singles after her opponent, Taylor Jones, retired.

King and Sorensen cemented the Pointer victory with their wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively, winning in straight sets over the Buccaneers.
