National Poll | Regional Poll

STEVENS POINT - The Pointer women's cross country team is ranked sixth in the Midwest Region poll conducted this week. The poll, conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), also has the Pointers ranked 34th in Division III.

The University of Washington, Missouri, is ranked first in the Midwest Region this week. Fellow WIAC opponents UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, and UW-Eau Claire rank second-fourth respectively, while the University of Chicago rounds out the top five.

The Pointers are coming off a strong showing at the 2009 Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Augustana College at the Credit Island Golf Course, last Friday. The Pointers finished in fifth place as a team and Claire Roberts (Oakfield) crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 20:08.7.

The Pointers return to action Friday, Oct. 2, when they travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational.
