Cross country runs to fifth place finish

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's cross country team, ranked No. 31 in the nation in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, finished fifth at Friday's 2009 Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Augustana College at the Credit Island Golf Course.

Leading the way for the Pointers was Claire Roberts (Oakfield), who's 20:08.7 was good for a third place finish. Allison Wolter (Kaukauna) finished in a time of 20:59.5, good for an 18th place finish.

Elsewhere for the Pointers, Shaun Krueger (Kiel) finished in 32nd with a time of 21:27, Sandy Hause (Bruce) finished in 51st with a time of 21:53 and April Sadogierski (Hatley) finished in 52nd with a run of 21:55 in the field of over 300 runners.

The Pointers return to action next Friday, Oct. 2 when they travel to South Bend, Ind. for competition in the Notre Dame Invite.
