Women's Cross Country finishes sixth at Warhawk Invite

WHITEWATER – The 27th ranked UW-Stevens Point women's cross country team opened the season on Saturday afternoon with a sixth place showing at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.

UW-La Crosse took home the Invitational title, finishing with a team total of 24 points. UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater, Carroll University and UW-Oshkosh rounded out the top five while the Pointers had 178 points on the day.

Freshman April Sadogierski (Hatley) was the top finisher on the day for the Pointers, crossing the finish line in a time of 25:17, good for a 34th place finish. Jackie Boeck (Orfordville) finished four spots behind in 38th place in a time of 25:31.

Elsewhere Lizzy Nelson (Waupaca) finished 58th with a time of 26:18, Brittany Dantinne (Green Bay) finished 69th with a time of 27:11, Zoe Bitner (Menasha) finished 84th with a time of 27:42, Sarah Coughlin (Sturtevant) finished 109th with a time of 29:09 and Kristin Johnson (Weyauwega) finished 119th with a time of 29:48 to round out the point scorers for UW-Stevens Point.

The Pointers return to action next weekend, Sept. 25, at the Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
